Kiri Lace Shawl Finished; Charlotte's Web On Hold

I just realized that I haven't bragged about my finished Kiri Lace shawl yet.  I finished it over a month ago, while my blog was temporarily out of commission:

I still haven't blocked it because my blocking mat wasn't big enough.

For some time I had been considering getting a "real" blocking board, and then I found a discussion on ravelry about toy "puzzle mats" that you can get at Target that work perfectly, and cost a lot less.  The mats are made of heavy duty foam, so you can pin the pieces to them easily.  In addition, the puzzle pieces can be combined to be as wide/long as you need.

Unfortunately, it turned out that one set wasn't enough for this shawl because I made it extra large, so I have to get another set in order to block this one.

Inspired by the success of my first lace project, I immediately started another one, the Koigu Charlotte's Web Shawl pattern using Handmaiden Sea Silk yarn:

I've actually gotten quite a bit further since I took that picture, but I'm not sure that I like the yarn for this pattern, so I have put it away for a while.

I am thinking that perhaps I should rip it out and use the yarn for Ilga Leja's Urban Goddess pattern instead:

I think that the color transitions might actually work quite nicely with the Urban Goddess pattern if I make the transitions a little more gradual.

What did you think of this article?

My vote is for Urban Goddess! Uhm, not that I am thinking of making it myself and want someone else I know to make it first so that I can find out if there need to be any pattern mods. ;p

Can't wait to see Kiri, blocked!
