You can say No to Socks (but I can't)

Since sock knitting has become so incredibly popular, many non-sock knitters have begun to wonder if they are the only ones in the world who don't knit socks.  No, you are not alone.  There are plenty of you, and it isn't necessarily true that you would like it if you tried it.

My friend Linda finally knit her first sock.  I really expected her to call me just bursting with pride and excitement when she finished the heel.  I talked to her the other day and asked if she was close to the heel and she said "Oh, I did that already" in a bored voice.  I said "What?!!!! Weren't you excited, wasn't it fun?"  Dead silence on other end of the phone.

She finished it, and she is never going to knit another one.  So there, you aren't alone.

I can't help it, though.  I do really enjoy knitting socks, especially because there are so many fun sock yarns available.  This is my newest one:

They are so much fun to work on because I love the colors -- and quite frankly I cannot imagine any other item of clothing that I would wear in such bright green and purple.  I loved funky socks long before I took up knitting, so that is probably why I get such a kick out of knitting them.

I got this delicious yarn on etsy from Castle Fibers.  The colorway is called Grape Hyacinth.
