I love my pasta machine

What  a difference the pasta machine makes in working with polymer clay!  I made a little experiment yesterday and it turned out so much better than my first effort.  Obviously, I still need some practice, but I'm feeling much more excited after this:

So now I will share a picture of my first, horrible attempt:

I could sand those buttons down, but the colors really didn't come out as I had planned, so there is no point.  The thing on the right was an attempt at a freeform shawl pin.  Clearly, I need to leave freeform alone for now ...  I am trying to figure out what I can use as a base for a shawl pin stick (something inexpensive) that I can cover in clay.  Suggestions would be most welcome!

Now I am going to attempt surgery on my dropped mitered stitch on my Autumn in Taos coat.
