Polymer Clay Buttons; I love my Saki
Except for beading, I have resisted all temptations to venture into other crafts aside from knitting ... until now. I was enraptured by the beautiful polymer clay buttons that students made in a class taught by ColorJoy, one of my new Ravelry friends. I kept thinking about how I need wonderful buttons for my Autumn in Taos Coat and that it will be impossible to find just the right thing ...
So, I ordered a book on polymer clay that I skimmed through this past weekend. When I realized how easy it is to do, I ordered some clays and basic tools on Monday and they got here today!

I plan to use the two colors at the bottom right, together with a darker brown that was out of stock, for the Taos Coat buttons. I can't wait until this weekend, when I can start to play!
It's so cold! Being from the north, I normally avoid mentioning the temperature down here because I know that when I lived in Chicago I found it inconceivable that anyone would complain about 50 degree temperatures in January. However, tonight it is getting down into the 20's, and that is mighty cold when your floors are all tile ...
I'm actually wearing matching socks tonight because I found my other Jitterbug sock. However, I love my Prism Saki sock so much that I started the second one:

I washed the first one and it fluffed up a bit so that it feels a little thicker, but otherwise seems unchanged from when it was fresh off the needles.
I got three more colors of the Saki from Hanks because I'm afraid that they might stop carrying it since knitters are more enticed by the squishy softness of the other great sock yarns:

Colors from top to bottom: Tumbleweed, Brass, Smoke.
