The Sock Bandit Struck Again
It was really cold down here last night. A perfect night for some handknit socks.
I've still only finished one complete pair of socks, however, and one of the Jitterbug socks has gone missing (it's the Sock Bandit who sneaks into the laundry room and steals one sock from each pair when I'm not looking).
I also have the Prism Saki Jaywalker sock that I completed. I still haven't started the second one, partly because I thought that the first one was a bit snug across the ankle, and partly because the Saki doesn't feel as luxuriously soft when you knit with it as the Jitterbug does.
But last night I really wanted to pad around the house in the comfort of warm handmade woolen socks, so:

... at least they are in the same color family.
The interesting thing, however, is that after several hours of wear I decided that I like the Saki better than the Jitterbug as a sock. Although it feels rougher when you knit with it, it is extremely comfortable to wear. It also holds its shape better (or maybe I just made the Jitterbug sock too big), and is less bulky so that it will fit better into tighter fitting shoes like loafers.
So I am going to continue this little experiment and wear these through several washings to see how they hold up under duress. I'll keep you posted.
I'm not knocking the Jitterbug. It is a joy to knit with and still one of my all-time favorite yarns. I have all sorts of plans for sweaters and even a modular throw using it. But I think I need to get me some more Saki before Hanks runs out -- I just noticed that they are almost sold out of Smoke, Brass, and Tumbleweed.
