Wine Socks; Malabrigo Loafers; First Autumn in Taos Square

I'm afraid that my Ravelry addiction has seriously cut into my blogging time (not to mention all of my other time).  I love Ravelry!  It's like an endless gallery of knitting designs and yarns, full of fellow knitting addicts all having animated conversations that you are welcome to join at any time.  There are discussion groups for every imaginable topic.  Of course, I had to join S.A.B.L.E (Stash Aquisition Beyond Life Expectancy).

The best news is that they are making their way through the waiting list pretty quickly now, and they expect to be able to make the site entirely public pretty soon.

I used to be such a confirmed non-sock knitter, but apparently I have really caught the sock knitting bug in a big way.  On Ravelry I came across these, and now I "need" them:

The design is called Vintage Socks, by the Tsarina of Tsocks.  Kits are available in three gorgeous color combinations.  At first I thought, "no way I could ever knit those" and I wondered how much I would have to pay Herta to knit them for me (that would be one expensive pair of socks!), but then I realized that I really could do them myself.  For me, one of the charms of knitting socks is that I can take on complex patterns that I wouldn't dare to undertake in a large project like a sweater, because socks are smaller and more manageable.

Another bit of clever confection that I came across, and one that is much easier to knit, are these Malabrigo Loafers by Julie Weisenberger:

The pattern is available from Coco Knits.

I did it, I started the Autumn in Taos coat.  Here is the first square:

I decided that I definitely like the copper.  I have about 8 squares done so far (which I will photograph and post, because I am so proud of them).
