Patterns for the Easy Summer Knits
Here are the patterns for those summer tops from last week.
Linda Brannen's Cyclone and Ribbon Top Pattern
Sizing: This is for a size Small/Medium as shown on the mannequin.
Materials:
1 skein Great Adirondack Cyclone (shown in Leopard)
1 skein coordinating Judy and Co. Half-Inch ribbon (shown in Tortoise)
#19 circular needle
2 boxes Trendsetter Chips in coordinating colors (shown in Brown and Copper)
This pattern is knit from side to side and uses only the garter stitch.
Cast on 39 stitches in cyclone
Rows 1-5: knit using cyclone
Row 6: knit one row in Judy & Co. ribbon. Cut, do not carry the ribbon along the sides, making sure to leave 6” of ribbon at each end.
Repeat Rows 1-6 until there are 35 rows and bind off.
(At the end of the ribbon row, you slide the piece back along the needle in order to pick up the Cyclone yarn where you left it.)
Make 2 alike.
Sew panels together: Sew shoulders first leaving approx 12-14 inches for neck opening.
Sew sides together leaving a 10 inch opening for armhole.
Tie chips on bottom alternating the 2 colors. Make sure all dangles are the same length (approx 2-3 inches long).
Bring ribbon to the front 2 stitches below neck opening. Tie chips at neck ribbon making all the same length.
Note: When adjusting for a larger size, estimate about 1.5 rows for each inch over a 36 inch bust. This is a very loose knit and will stretch quite a bit, but in order to drape properly it should hang loosely.

SSK = Slip 1 stitch, knit the next stitch, pass the slipped stitch over the knit stitch. (This is the same as knitting two stitches together, except that the stitch slants toward the left rather than the right).
P2tog Tbl = Purl two together through back loops. Insert needle from left to right through the back loops of the next two stitches and purl.
