First Sock! - Herta's Wreath - Trendsetter Brighton

I finally did it -- I knit my first sock!!!  I used the Colinette Jitterbug in the Jay colorway.  Here it is in all its glory:

I am so proud, particularly because it passed the Herta test.  She says that it is perfect and that she is proud of me.  I used Lantern Moon Rosewood #2 double pointed needles, which are just wonderful to knit with (once I got used to those points sticking out all over the place).  The general consensus seems to be that I really ought to wear a matching pair of hand knit socks, so I am diligently working on the second one, although I am dying to make one in "Sahara."  I am so excited -- I want to make socks to match all of my Colinette sweaters...

Herta finished the Nicki Epstein felted wreath from the holiday issue of Knit Simple and we are proudly displaying it in our Christmas window, along with the "Dr. Seuss stocking" (my name for the enormouse Knit Simple Christmas stocking) and our collection of knit gloves trimmed with Great Adirondack Fluff:

She used Malabrigo in Cypress for the dark green, and Fiesta Kokopelli for the rest.

Trendsetter has several new yarns for Spring 2007 that are available already.  We just got in some of the Brighton, which is sort of a ribbon version of their Pandora.  It consists of random lengths of three different kinds of ribbon in shades of the same color.  It knits up beautifully at 5 stitches to the inch.  Shown here in "Burnt Rose:"

This would make a wonderful jacket.  Trendsetter doesn't have any patterns out for it yet, but they will no doubt be coming out soon.
