Jane's Charm-ing Scarf

I never paid much attention to Trendsetter's Charm yarn until I saw my friend Jane wearing a really cool scarf that she had made out of it -- it is one of those yarns that you can't picture until it is knit up.

Jane's version uses only 2 skeins of Charm, for a total cost of $13.  Yes -- a scarf for under $15!  She casts on about 20 stitches on #13 needles and knits until it is as long as she wants it, which is quite long.  I made mine wider (about 30 stitches) and had to break into a third skein to make it my favorite length:

Even with 3 skeins, however, it is still under $20.  The color in the picture is Desert Sunset, and there are loads of colors to choose from.

Charm also knits up beautifully on smaller needles (#7 or #8) to make airy garments.  My favorite jacket is made out of Charm using a Trendsetter pattern:

No, that's not me in my jacket in the picture.  That's the picture on the pattern.  My version is in Olive Medley Charm with Eggplant Olive Hanah silk ribbon trim.  Eventually, I will get aroung to taking a picture of it (on the svelte mannequin in the shop, not on me).
